Here's a sneak peak from our trip to Paris and London. I could not have planned this shot. I don't even remember this little girl being there. At the most perfect moment, just as I hit the shutter, she runs in to my photo creating a ghostly blur framed by an old world structure in Paris. Even her clothes give the appearance of being from another time. Very spooky!

So very excited to have just found out one of my images has won the Jelly/Light Brief of the 2013 Canon Photo5 Photography Competition! I'll be heading over to New Zealand for a creative photography workshop with award winning photographers Jackie Ranken and Mike Langford as part of the prize. Can't wait! A big thank you to everyone who voted for my photo. Here is my winning entry:

Whoah. Where has this year gone? It seems only yesterday I was writing about my plans for 2013 declaring it the year of change. Well, things haven't quite gone to plan. Especially with regards to showing this blog some love. But one thing is for sure, 2013 has most certainly been eventful! It has been a year of extreme highs and lows. I started a new business, traveled to the heart of the Australian outback, experienced the most divine macaroons in Paris, walked in the shoes of John, Paul, George and Ringo across Abbey Road, shared a Pimm's (or 2 or 3) with cricketing legends and celebrated with the Queen (well kind of) on the arrival of her new grandson. Throw in a health scare and a new job - quite frankly I'd be really grateful if the remainder of 2013 could be ... well ... blissfully uneventful! But will leave that for another post.

Oh my! Where has 2012 gone? To think this time last year we were packing the bags to spend Christmas with my little bro in Hong Kong. I love Hong Kong. There is something intriguing about this city. It’s got this east meets west vibe with surprises down every street - hidden temples, bustling markets, quaint parks or chic cafés. The smells are divine and the shopping is fabulous. Restaurants, bars and nightlife rival that of anywhere in the world. I love that you can by a Smirnoff Black at the 7-11 (found on just about every corner) and the bamboo scaffolding is insane! And I didn’t expect Hong Kong to be such a creative city. It has such a strong design community and is fast establishing itself as a design and creative hub of Asia. So as a fellow creative type person, I’m in good company over there.

For the past two years, I've entered an annual photography competition comprising of five briefs to challenge the creativity and photographic technique. It's called Canon EOS Photo5. Every year around August, photography enthusiasts eagerly await the arrival of the little brown Photo5 box sent to entrants to mark the beginning of the competition period. This little box is full of goodies to provide inspiration and utilise as props for each of the briefs. And this year, I was pretty chuffed to be selected as one of 10 finalists in the "Portfolio" Brief! But what I didn't expect was to win!
